Changes to Electronic Resources

Due to a reduction in the grants the library receives from the Province of BC, the TNRD Library System will be losing access to some of our electronic resources. This will take effect January 1, 2010.

As of January 1, 2010, the TNRD Library System will no longer continue our subscriptions to the following electronic resources:
Novelist
Small Engine Repair
World Book Encyclopedia Online

Our Readers Advisor has put together a list of free, online resources that can help you in choosing which book to read next. They can be found on this web page.

The electronic resources that we will continue to subscribe to will give you the full text content of many newspapers, magazines, electronic reference books, and more, all for free, and easily accessible from your computer 24/7.

As of January 1, our collection of electronic resources will include:
Academic Search Elite
This multi-disciplinary database provides full text for more than 4,600 journals, including full text for nearly 3,900 peer-reviewed titles. PDF backfiles to 1975 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles.

Auto Repair Reference Center
Repair manuals for 1945 to current model cars and trucks including repair procedures and wiring diagrams.

BC Codes
BC Fire Code - contains technical requirements for fire safety within a community
BC Building Code - applies to the construction of buildings
BC Plumbing Services ( part 7 of the BC Building Code)

BC Stats
Full text of many statistical reports from BC Stats. (In-library use only).

Business Source Premiere
a business research database which provides the full text for more than 2,300 journals. Topics covered include marketing, management, accounting, banking, finance, etc.

Canadian Newsstand Complete
Full text to Canadian newspapers and periodicals, including the Vancouver Sun and Province, the Globe and Mail, and the National Post. It also includes the Kamloops Daily News as well as many smaller BC newspapers.

Consumer Health
A resource for consumer-oriented health content. It is designed to support patients' information needs and foster an overall understanding of health-related topics. CHC provides content covering all areas of health and wellness from mainstream medicine to the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated medicine.

Library-To-Go
Library-To-Go lets you can take great books with you wherever you go. Download and listen to best-selling and classic audio books anytime on your PC or digital audio player, or read e-books on your computer.

Masterfile
Masterfile provides full-text coverage for more than 1,050 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, multicultural issues and much more. This database also contains full text for 52 reference books and an Image Collection of over 460,000 photos, maps and flags.

Primary Search
Primary Search contains full text for more than 70 popular, elementary school magazines. All full-text articles are assigned a reading level indicator. Additionally, Primary Search includes the Encyclopedia of Animals, and features the Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia, which provides students with easy-to-read encyclopedic entries written specifically for kids.

QP Legal Eze
The current laws of British Columbia including Statutes, Regulations, Third Reading Bills, Orders in Council, BC Gazette II and more. (In-library use only).

Vehicle Safety and Inspection Standards Online - VSIS Online
Provides current access to vehicle safety and inspection standards and related BC legislation. (In-library use only).
